William T. Schreiner December 7, 1932 – November 9, 2025
William “Bill” T. Schreiner, 92, of North Richland Hills, Texas, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 9, 2025. Born December 7, 1932, to Wendeline and Salome Schreiner, Bill grew up with a strong sense of family, hard work, and humor that would carry him throughout a long and meaningful life.
Bill was a proud graduate of Topeka High School (Class of 1951) where he met his beloved wife Darlene, and later attended Washburn University, where he studied sales, finance, and management—skills he put to great use throughout his career in banking and finance. Over four decades, Bill worked in lending and management eventually working his way to Assistant Vice President of Lending at Bank One before his retirement in 1992. Earlier in his career, he also managed several credit and branch operations and even owned Frosty Treat, a local ice cream store; and dressed in his white ice-cream uniform and visiting the hospital at the birth of his beautiful daughter (Karen), he was mistaken for a doctor. Never one to sit still, Bill continued his entrepreneurial spirit in retirement, working at Eagle Motor Co., where he acquired and sold cars —combining his love of automobiles with his knack for business.
A veteran of the Kansas National Guard, Bill served nine years in the 35th Artillery Division, proudly contributing to his country.
Bill married the love of his life, Darlene, on April 23, 1955, and together they built a home filled with laughter, family, and faith; raising two beautiful daughters - Gail Neal & Karen Smith, and son Keith Schreiner —along with his beloved grandchildren and great-grandchild: Austin Young, Anna Monk, and Tyler Monk. Proceeding him in death were his siblings Mary Hokr, Josephine Ward, Robert Schreiner, and Andrew Schreiner.
Bill’s passions extended far beyond his work. In true Texas form he was larger than life in body and spirit; and was an avid sports fan—faithfully cheering for both the Dallas Cowboys and Kansas City Chiefs—and had a passion for restoring and repairing antique clocks. He was known as a true “car guy,” never missing a car show or auction when he could help it. Those who knew him best will remember his colorful sense of humor, love of a good story (often spoken in German) and his appreciation for life’s simple pleasures—often accompanied by a glass of scotch and good company.
Bill will be deeply missed by all who had the joy of knowing him. His legacy of laughter, generosity, and genuine warmth will live on through the countless lives he touched.
