William Dreger

William "Bill" D. Dreger, age 70, of Southlake, TX, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 6, 2025, with his wife by his side. 

A funeral service will be held at White's Chapel Methodist Church in Southlake, TX on Friday, November 14, 2025, at 11:00 AM with Reverend Lori Cotton. A columbarium entombment ceremony for immediate family will be held at a later date.

Bill was born on February 23, 1955, at the Naval Base in Sasebo, Japan to Harry and Masae (Nukanobu) Dreger. At two weeks old, Harry, Masae and Bill boarded a ship to return to the United States. Bill grew up in Greendale, WI, graduating from Greendale High School; he was an athlete, playing quarterback, and sometimes a kicker, lifeguarding at the pool of his choosing, and playing water polo to name a few. He attended The Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD for two years, making the decision to finish his college career at Graceland College in Lamoni, IA. He graduated from Graceland College in 1978 with a B.S. in Business Administration and Economics. Bill started his career selling insurance, before finding Miller Brewing Company; his career at Miller (now Molson Coors Beverage Company) spanned 30 years, 8 states, 13 moves, and numerous positions. On one of his relocations in Roanoke, VA, he met the love of his life. Bill's career with Miller afforded him many experiences, including attending three SABMiller Global Leadership Conferences in South Africa, China and India. He retired from Miller in 2010 as a Regional Vice President. After retirement, Bill was the co-founder of Competere' Leadership Consulting, spent a few years as the President of Caffey Distributing in the Carolinas, and was a partner in Prodigy Learning. Bill was driven in a way that left a lasting legacy on those privileged to work with and learn from him. 

In his spare time, Bill's passion was his family, any time spent with "Deb and the kids," and grandchildren, was his favorite. He was humble, articulate, intelligent, detail- oriented and strived for perfection. To know Bill was to enjoy his quick wit, admire his endless energy, no task too daunting, and to appreciate his generosity for others. He enjoyed learning and teaching, gardening, history, golfing, traveling, photography, and a cold Miller Lite. After truly retiring, he loved spending time with Deb around Southlake, traveling to their mountain home in Durango, traveling around the country and abroad, and this year, hand-selecting all the details in their new lake house. As family was his top priority, Bill and Deb often spent their travels to see parents, siblings, children and grandchildren. He worked hard and played hard. Whether planning family vacations or in his professional career, he always made sure things were done the right way, even if it wasn't easy, and always "top shelf."

Bill is survived by his wife of 39 years, Deborah Dreger; children Lyndsey St. George (Rob), Billy Dreger, and Katie (JP) Gavin; grandchildren Aaren and Avery; siblings James, "Jim," and Tom (Jill) Dreger; nieces and nephews Nia, Yassy, Garrett, Ali, Matt, Isabelle, and Nicholas.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Masae Dreger; parents-in-law James and Virginia Harrison. 

In his final days, Bill received compassionate care at BSW Charles A. Sammons Cancer Center and T. Boone Pickens Hospice and Palliative Care Center in Dallas, TX surrounded by family. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks for all the wonderful care they provided to Bill, and the support given to Deb and family.

Lucas Funeral Home is assisting the family with the cremation and funeral arrangements.

Memorials can be made in Bill's name to the American Cancer Society for Pancreatic Cancer.
