Wesley Benjamin Gray of North Richland Hills, Texas, passed away June 4, 2025, after a difficult fight with pancreatic cancer. He was 76 years old.
Wes is survived by his wife of 50 years, Rosaline; his daughter, Kimberly Faith Tenney, and her husband, Joseph Benjamin Tenney; and his granddaughters, Faith and Ruth of Grapevine, Texas. He was born March 26, 1949, in Nowata, Oklahoma, to James Benjamin and Faith Anna Gray of Ramona, OK. Wes was born into a family of 14 children. He was the youngest of the 14. He is survived by three brothers: Bill Gray, Ted Gray, Don Gray; and one sister, Sue Drew. He is preceded in death by Marjorie Stone, Nadine Roberts, Wanda Capps, Louise Murray, Jack Gray, Pete Gray, Mary Hilton, Tommy Gray and Charles Gray.
Wes attended two high schools in Oklahoma: College High in Bartlesville, and another in Ramona, Oklahoma. He then moved to California where he went to both Colton High School in Colton, CA, and graduated from Sunnyvale High School in Sunnyvale, CA in 1967.
He began his college studies at DeAnza College in Cupertino, CA, before returning to Oklahoma to attend Central State University in Edmond. He earned a B.S. degree with a major in Government and Sociology, graduating Magna Cum Laude in 1977. He went on to complete a Master of Public Administration (M.P.A.) with a concentration in Public Personnel Administration at the University of Oklahoma in May 1977.
After graduating, Wes began a distinguished 37-year career with the City of Oklahoma City, starting on March 8, 1977, as a liaison with the Community Action Program (CAP). Over the years, he held several senior management positions, including Manager of the Civic Center Music Hall Auditorium, Director of the Public Events Department, MAPS (Metropolitan Area Projects) Business Manager, and Business Manager for the Parks and Recreation Department. Wes retired on April 1, 2014, after faithfully serving 37 years for the City of Oklahoma City.
Inurnment will take place Thursday, June 19, 2025 at 10:00 am, at Smithfield Cemetery, 7935 Main Street North Richland Hills, Texas 76182.
The void left by Wes’s passing will resonate profoundly among all who had the privilege of knowing him.
