It is with great sadness, we announce the death of Weldon Oliver Freudenrich. Weldon passed away peacefully at the age of 82 on June 1, 2025 in Grapevine, Texas. Born July 10, 1942, in Amarillo, Texas, Weldon was a dedicated family man.
With his mother’s permission, Weldon joined the US Navy in 1959 when he was 17 years old, where he worked in Aviation Mechanics in California until 1962. He was transferred to the Naval station in Adak, Alaska, until he transferred to the USS Pine Island which was stationed as part of the Pacific Fleet. While in the US Navy, he served his country as a mechanic, a cook, a photographer, and firefighter. He served on the USS Pine Island as an E3 until his honorable discharge in 1964. He also served a year in the US Navy Reserves and a year in the US Army National Guard. He met Brenda and they married in 1975. For the majority of his adult life, Weldon worked for various apartment companies as an HVAC, Plumbing, and Electrical Maintenance Manager, until his retirement.
Weldon was known for his kind heart, his love for his family, the strength of his faith in God, and his desire to help his loved ones any way he could.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Earie Andrew and Lois Frances. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Brenda Joyce, his three children, Shelli, Lisa, and Michael, their spouses, and 6 grandsons, 1 granddaughter, and 3 great granddaughters.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, June 13, 2025 at Lucas Funeral Home in Hurst, TX to be followed by a graveside service at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
