Graveside services for Walter Neal Wood (79) of Argyle will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 21, 2026, at Medlin Cemetery in Trophy Club, with Reverend Jimmy McLeod officiating.
Walt passed away October 3, 2026, in Grapevine. He was born July 24, 1947, to Emmett and Thora Mae Wood in Shreveport, Louisiana.
Walt was a man who found joy in the simple things that made life special. He was an avid sports fan, especially enjoying basketball and football. As an architect, he appreciated creativity and design, while his love of collecting coins reflected his appreciation for history and unique treasures. Walt also had a wonderful sense of humor and loved sharing a good joke. He was a true lover of good food and never turned down an opportunity to enjoy a delicious meal.
His faith was an important part of his life. Walt faithfully served as a Deacon at First Baptist Church Trophy Club and Aurora Baptist Church. He especially cherished the opportunity to serve the Lord by teaching and encouraging the youth at church. Through his faith, kindness, humor, and willingness to serve others, Walt made a lasting impact on those around him.
Above all, Walt treasured his family. His greatest joy was the time he spent with those he loved, creating memories that will continue to be cherished by his family for years to come.
Walt leaves behind his loving wife, Pat Wood; his son, Robert Mark Wood; his grandson, Dylan Wood; his sister, Wanda Wood Hamilton and her husband, Ken; and numerous nieces and nephews, including David and his wife, Cheryl; Cathie and her husband, Ed; Dena; Kelly and her husband, Forrest; Kerri and fiancé Greg; Jenny and her husband, Joe; Melissa and her husband, Derek; and Karen.
He was preceded in death by his son, Scott David Wood, and his sister, Linda Wood Shipp.
Though Walt will be deeply missed, his faith, humor, love of family, and the many lives he touched will remain a lasting part of his legacy.
