Vivian Elin Houser, resident of Keller, Texas, born November 27, 1950, went to be with the Lord on April 12, 2026, at the age of 76.
Born in Long Beach, California, to James and Virginia Vine. Vivian earned a Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in Liberal Studies from California State College, and nine days later she married David Houser on December 18, 1976. With love and devotion, she dedicated her life to God, raising and homeschooling her nine beloved children. She faithfully served for many years as a teacher in Bible Study Fellowship (BSF) and leading Child Evangelism Fellowship (CEF) programs in local schools and at the San Bernardino County Fair.
A courageous and principled woman, Vivian stood up for her family and community by leading one of the rare successful referendums in southern California in the last 100 years, helping to overturn city laws that had restricted freedoms. She also led other efforts in preventing local corruption.
Vivian drew strength and joy from her daily scripture study. She had a gift for writing songs to God’s Word to aid memorization, and she shared her talents through teaching water aerobics classes and pursuing many artistic endeavors including painting and illustrations for children’s ministries.
She was an active member of Life Point Baptist Church for 16 years in Apple Valley, California. After moving to Keller, Texas, she continued her faithful service in BSF and taught preschool to some of her grandchildren.
Vivian was preceded in death by her father, James Vine, and her mother, Virginia Vine.
She is survived by her husband of 49 years, David Houser; her children, Galen (Carrie) Houser, Cameron (Rebekah) Houser, Preston (Tiffany) Houser, Adrian Houser, Gavrielle (Ian) Allison, Valerie Houser, Christian (Anna) Houser, Clifton (Marika) Houser, and Kenneth Houser; her 20 cherished grandchildren; her brothers, Victor (Mary) Vine, Vincent (Misty) Vine, Vern (Dory) Vine, Von (Kathy) Vine, John (Arleta) Payne; many nieces and nephews; and her stepmother, Lynn Vine.
Visitation will be held on Friday, April 17th from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m., immediately followed by the funeral service at Bear Creek Bible Church in Keller, Texas, with graveside services to follow.
Vivian’s final resting place will be at Smithfield Cemetery in North Richland Hills, Texas.
