Vicky Harper Robertson, born June 27, 1945, passed away peacefully at home on May 18, 2026, leaving a legacy defined by unwavering faith and unconditional love. A strong Christian, Vicky walked out her faith daily as a dedicated educator, a fierce advocate for literacy, and a lifelong champion for the underdog. All of her years in education service were devoted to the Hurst-Euless-Bedford Independent School District, where she faithfully served students and families throughout her career.
Vicky was an active member of First United Methodist Church Hurst, where she faithfully served through Stephen Ministry, youth ministry, outreach and mission work, and as a Sunday school teacher. Her faith was not only something she believed, but something she lived through service, compassion, and care for others.
For 61 years, Vicky shared a life of deep devotion with her husband, Rod. Her boundless capacity to care led her to serve as a foster parent to 35 children over the years. She was a foundational “mom” figure to many of her daughters’ friends and church youth, offering a safe harbor to anyone in need.
To her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, she was lovingly known as “Lus-U.” The nickname began when she rocked her first grandchild and softly repeated, “Grandma loves you.” He believed “Loves You” was her name, and from that moment on, “Lus-U” became the name that generations of her family would call her with affection and joy.
Vicky was welcomed into heaven by her mother, Velma Harper; her biological father, Jack Malin, who died during World War II; the beloved father who raised her, Glen Harper; her brother, Rick Harper; and her nephew, Jarod Harper.
Her love lives on through her surviving family: her husband, Rod; daughters, Kristen Seely (John) and Stephani Harbin (Jason); grandchildren, Baird, Nicholas, Renin, Kamden, and Piper; and great-grandchildren, Alexandria, Jackson, and Adeline. She is also survived by her sister, Marily Harper Rhudy of Bethesda, and her brother, Randy Harper (Judy) of Hill City.
Family and friends are invited to honor her memory on Saturday, May 30, 2026 at 10:00am at The First United Methodist Church of Hurst.
