Tommy, 81, a godly husband, father, brother, and grandfather, passed quietly into the presence of the Lord on Tuesday evening, August 12, 2025 at his home in Fort Worth, Texas.

Funeral: Services will be held on Thursday, August 21, 2025, at Cross Creek Church in Colleyville, Texas. The Memorial Service will begin at 11:30 a.m. with the graveside service to immediately follow at 2 p.m. at DFW National Cemetery.

Tommy was born in Corona, California. His father, Paul, was a truck driver who moved the family shortly thereafter to West Memphis, Arkansas, and finally to Irving, Texas. Tommy was an athlete at L.D. Bell High School and received a track scholarship to Howard County Junior College, then he was recruited by the University of Houston. He went on to win national titles in several hurdling and team events.

Tommy was drafted into the Navy in 1968 and was posted on the aircraft carrier, USS Ranger, in Vietnam where he was a Yeoman and Petty Officer as the ship’s Director of Correspondence. He came home in 1969 and returned to school to finish his Physical Education degree at UT Arlington.

In early 1970, Tommy met the love of his life, Sue Janszen, on a blind date at the local rodeo, set up by their friends Ronnie and Susie McCarley. He told Sue that night, “I’m gonna marry you someday.” They married that same year on December 19th. Tommy and Sue moved to Keller and then to Haslet, his son Jacob was born in 1979, and then his daughter Jennifer in 1980.

Tommy founded WiseCo Land Development in 1983. He also served as an Elder at Mid-Cities Bible Church in Bedford where the family attended for over 25 years. After living in Haslet for 28 years, they moved to their ranch near Glen Rose for 12 years, and then returned to Fort Worth. He has spent his final years surrounded by family and friends at their farm. He would have turned 82 on September 10th.

SURVIVORS: Tommy is survived by his wife, Sue Wise; his son, Jacob Wise, and daughter-in-law Karli Wise; his daughter, Jennifer Burge, and son-in-law Jeremy Burge; his sister, Paula Vasquez; his grandchildren, Madeleine Burge, Chloe Burge, Ella Wise, and Judah Wise.

PRECEDED IN DEATH: His parents, Paul and Ruby Wise; his siblings, Holland Wise, Clara Pyatt, and Jack Wise.
