Thelma Kay Sexton, affectionately known as "Fudge" by her family and friends, passed away peacefully on May 11, 2026, in Fort Worth, Texas, surrounded by her loved ones. Born on January 1, 1950, in Dallas, Texas, Thelma was the daughter of Austin Granger, a dedicated Air Force serviceman, and Mary Van Horn Granger. Throughout her early years, she experienced the unique life of a military family, moving from base to base before settling in Shreveport, Louisiana, where she was raised.
After earning her GED and marrying Edward "Pete" Sexton shortly after high school, Thelma pursued further education at LSU for two years. She later relocated to North Texas with her family and began a long and respected career at the Fort Worth Post Office, where she devoted 28 years of service before retiring.
Thelma cherished many passions throughout her life, including waterskiing, camping, summer vacations, cooking, and attending drag races. She enjoyed trips on the Harley to Colorado with her husband Pete, and most importantly, spending quality time with her grandchildren.
She is lovingly survived by her husband, Edward Lee Sexton, known as "Pete"; her children Edward Lee Sexton Jr. "Petey" and Austin Joseph Granger Sexton "A.J."; her grandchildren Mary Elizabeth Amaya Sexton and Sterling Nathaniel Ellis Sexton; her sister Glendon Noella Granger Mezzio "GiGi"; her brothers Frank Alton Granger and Laster Lee Granger; and her daughters-in-law Tarasa Wallace Sexton and Donna Thersa Sexton; and many nieces and nephews.
Thelma was preceded in death by her beloved grandparents Alma Doyle and James Andrew Van Horn; her parents Austin and Mary Louise Granger; her brother Austin Edwin Granger; and her sister Margaret Jane Bezucha ("Marty").
Thelma Kay Sexton's life was marked by love, dedication, and joyful memories shared with family and friends. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew her.
