Terry was born June 19, 1946 in Oskaloosa, Iowa to Gerald and Wilma Timmons and was raised in Augusta, Kansas. After graduating from Augusta High School in 1964, he spent two years studying architecture/drafting, then enlisted in the Air Force, working as an illustrator/draftsman in the General’s office. After leaving the Air Force, he started working for BNSF railroad, which eventually moved his family to Burleson, Texas. He enjoyed his job and his co-workers and was an excellent employee who would always say “If I’m not early, I’m late.” He retired after 35 years, having never missed a day of work.
Terry was a very loving, mild-mannered man, with a kind, gentle spirit, a calm demeanor and easy, laid-back personality. He was always there for his family and always ready to help anybody with anything.
He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren and made sure to take frequent road trips, “making the rounds” to visit family. He was an avid bowler and also developed a love for golf. He was truly skilled in carpentry and enjoyed spending time in his shop, designing and building things like his garage, decks, furniture, and birdhouses. He was a member of Retta Baptist Church where he enjoyed helping the Children’s Ministry with special projects and other needs around the church.
Terry is survived by his wife, Marcella Timmons; two sons, Richard Timmons (Diane) and Toby Timmons (Karel); one daughter, Sharla Herndon (James); ten grandchildren, Kelly Timmons (Rhett), Lauren McCarter (Todd), Cason Timmons, Ryan Herndon, Austin Valentino, Lane Timmons, Meagan Davis, Trey Herndon, Patrick Langford, and Chloe Langford; three great-grandchildren, RJ McCarter, Ava McCarter, and Lennon Hobbs; and one brother, David McCune (Linda).
He was preceded in death by his mother, Wilma Timmons, late wife, Connie Timmons, two daughters, Jennifer Timmons and Stormy Langford, one sister, Kathy Kumpan, two brothers, Gary Timmons and Ron McCune and parents, Gerald “Tim” and Fern Timmons.
