Shirley Katherine Hodge peacefully passed away at home on January 25, 2026. She has been welcomed home by her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and is joyfully reunited in heaven with her husband of 44 years, Michael John Hodge.
Shirley was born in Fish Creek, West Virginia to Violet and Alfred Minor and had fond memories of her childhood. She spent much of her adult life in public service, working for the police department as an emergency dispatcher and records clerk. In retirement, she enjoyed taking care of her grandchildren and exploring the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex with her husband. Shirley had a generous heart and cherished time spent with her family.
Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Michael John Hodge; her parents, Alfred and Violet Minor; her son, Craig Straight; and her siblings: Helen Minor, Bernard Minor, Kenny Minor, Doris Fonner, Janice Pettit, and Harold Minor.
She is survived by her children and grandchildren, who were the center of her life: daughter Janet Pullen and husband Mitch; son John Hodge and wife Paige; daughter-in-law Paula Straight; grandchildren Matthew Pullen and husband Michael, Rebecca Pullen, Austin Straight, and Michael E. Hodge; and great-granddaughter Aubrina Pullen, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 3rd, 2026, from 1:00 to 2:00 PM, followed by a service at 2:00 PM at Lucas Funeral Home, 1321 Precinct Line Road, Hurst, Texas. She will be laid to rest at Smithfield Cemetery, 7935 Main St, North Richland Hills, Texas.
