Shirley Ann Fregia (Prowell), 87, of Bedford, TX, passed away on February 21, 2026, surrounded by loving family.
Shirley was born September 21, 1938 in Palestine, TX, the daughter of Andrew Claud Prowell and Lavada May Burch.
Shirley attended Crockett Junior High through the 8th grade.
Shirley married Lonnie Fregia on September 27, 1956 at Laude Airforce Base in Fairbanks, Alaska. They were married for over 16 years and together they had 5 children.
Shirley worked as a CNA for several nursing facilities providing extraordinary care and attention to all her residents. Her care was not limited to her job, as she extended her loving hand to family, friends, and all those in need.
Shirley especially loved fishing, going on picnics and walks, playing dominos and cards, listening to her favorite music such as Elvis and Hank Williams, and spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Most importantly she loved speaking to others about the love of God.
Remaining to cherish Shirley’s memory are children Lonnie Ray Fregia and wife Ann Fregia, Fonda Ann Hillman and husband Jason Hillman, Loretta Lynn Vieira and husband Doni Vieira, Tammy LaJuan Fregia and husband Marty Michelau, grandchildren Melissa Paxton, Travis Fregia, LeAnn McCray, Brek Fregia, Chasten Gipson, Brooke Dillon, Brandon Dillon, Austin Fregia, Valyn Fletcher, great-grandchildren Destiny Mckinney, Tyler McCray, Payton McCray, Logen McCray, Harper Russell, Remington Fregia, and Colt Fregia, great-great grandchild Paul Morton, and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding Shirley in death are children Hank Fregia and wife Beverly Fregia, grandchildren Christian Vieira, great-grandchildren James Gipson, parents Andrew Claud Prowell and Lavada May Burch, brothers Claud (John) D Prowell, Andrew (Tom) Thomas Prowell, Harley Prowell, Ruden Prowell, Raleigh (Rawley) Prowell, sisters January (Faye) Poe, and Laveda June (Mickey) Vance.
Memorial services will be held March 8, 2026 at 1 pm at Lucas Funeral Home at 700 West Wall Street, Grapevine, TX
