Sherry Elizabeth Samples

Dec 15, 1955 — Jul 28, 2026

Sherry Samples, 70, passed away peacefully on July 28th, 2026, in Fort Worth, Texas, following a short battle with lung cancer.

Born on December 15, 1955, in Lawrence, Kansas, Sherry was preceded in death by her parents, Alta and Lowell Weems, along with her husband Luigi. She is survived by her beloved son, Guisseppi Guillo, and his wife, Rachel Guillo; her cherished grandchildren, Rebekah, Joey, Josiah, and Elisha; her brother, Gayle Weems, and his children, Carrie and Steve; and her sister, Carolyn Barr, her husband Keith, along with children Bobby, Rudy, and Adrienne and also her 2nd husband Gary. She also leaves behind many extended family members and friends whose lives were enriched by her love and encouragement.

Sherry lived a life defined by both adventure and responsibility. Throughout her life, she called Kansas, Missouri, Colorado, and Texas home, appreciating the beauty of quiet pastures, open skies, and mountain landscapes. As a child, she was a true free spirit who loved riding horses, roller skating, and making crafts. That adventurous spirit stayed with her into adulthood as she embraced skiing, swimming, painting, and fearlessly relocating whenever it meant providing the best opportunities for her son.

She attended Dallas Baptist University and built a successful career spanning purchasing, accounting, and logistics. Sherry had a naturally curious mind and was always eager to embrace new technology, enjoying the challenge of learning new tools and discovering innovative possibilities.

More than any accomplishment, Sherry will be remembered for the way she loved people. She treasured her roles as a friend, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, mother, and grandmother. She had a remarkable gift for making others feel seen, valued, and celebrated. Whether greeting someone with her enthusiastic "Good morning!" or reminding them, "It's going to be a great day," she had a way of lifting spirits and bringing joy wherever she went.

Birthdays were never ordinary with Sherry. She delighted in wrapping beautiful gifts chosen with thought and care, using ribbons she curled and also leaving happy birthday voicemails. She made Christmas a truly special celebration, and loved marking life's milestones with family and friends. She had a unique ability to remind those around her just how special they were and how deeply they were loved.

As a mother, Sherry was unwavering in her devotion to her son, Guisseppi. She was present for every football practice and every game, always cheering him on and offering steadfast support. She welcomed Rachel as a daughter and became a loving and supportive mother-in-law. Her greatest joy was being "Grandma" to Rebekah, Joey, Josiah, and Elisha. She was actively involved in their lives, celebrating every achievement, encouraging every dream, and making certain they always knew how deeply they were loved.

In her later years, Sherry embraced life's simple pleasures with the same enthusiasm she had always shown. She enjoyed attending concerts and comedy shows, and she especially loved relaxing in the hot tub on weekends with her family.

Sherry's legacy is one of love, encouragement, generosity, and joyful celebration. Her warmth, adventurous spirit, unwavering support, and genuine kindness touched countless lives. Though she will be deeply missed, the memories she created and the love she shared will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

Her family finds comfort in knowing that the kindness she showed, the encouragement she freely gave, and the love she poured into others will remain her lasting legacy.
