Sherrie Lynn Slaughter

Sherrie Lynn Dunham Parrish Slaughter born April 17, 1946, passed away peacefully of natural causes on Wednesday, July 29, 2026. She was born in Kermit, Texas, to Everette Dunham and ImaGene Ferguson Dunham. She was just five years old when she lost her father, and her mother raised 3 children and then married Bubs Ferguson in 1954 to which became a wonderful father to her and her siblings. Sherrie spent her childhood in Kermit alongside her sister Barbara Wright and her brother Bobby Dunham. Her mother and Bubs had her youngest brother Gary Wayne Ferguson in 1964, The wide-open West Texas landscape as a child shaped her adventurous spirit. She grew up riding pump jacks and jumping sand dunes, the kind of free-range childhood that forged her fearless, energetic character.

At sixteen, she married Bernie Parrish, and together they built a family rooted in love and activity. She became a mother at seventeen to Robert Parrish, he was not only her first born, he was her only son and he was mommas boy to the end, he loved his momma so much and and at eighteen she had Stacie Parrish, whom was her mini me and so proud to be her mini. During her marriage to Bernie, Sherrie was a stay-at-home mother in name only, her real occupation was living at full speed. Monday was bowling, Tuesday was golf, Wednesday was tennis, Thursday was volleyball, and Friday through Sunday belonged to family and friends, to card games and laughter that filled their home. Bernie passed away when Stacie was sixteen and Robert was 17, to which left Wyatt taking on not just a new wife, her 2 children as well, and he was always more than a Step Father to them. Sherrie married Wyatt Slaughter March 28, 1978 with the service Held on April 1st yes April fools and it was their first big laugh of many to come. they had her last child Lindsay Slaughter aka "The Boss" March of 1982 and Wyatt became the love of her life. Theirs was the kind of partnership others dreamed of effortless, devoted, deeply intertwined. With Wyatt, her bowling life flourished into something extraordinary. She had already turned professional during her first marriage, but with Wyatt, bowling became their shared empire. Together they owned and operated Alpine Lanes, where Sherrie's gift for running a center became unmistakable. Lindsay's childhood was spent cruising around with her bicycle being "The Boss" of Alpine and their family was built on Happiness Love and the sound of Smashing Pins. Many of great names in bowling began their life in the world of bowling with Sherrie and Wyatt at Alpine Lanes. Wyatt Surprised Sherrie with their home in 1983. Wyatt passed away in 2002. Lindsay had her first child Kamron Harris in 2004, and her second child Aniah Slaughter in 2009. After Wyatt passed Lindsay and her children remained a strong family unit together with Sherrie assisting raising Kamron and Aniah at their home in Bedford. Sherrie became ill in 2013, and the family thought it was best that she moved with Stacie in Alvarado Tx.

In 1996 Showplace Lanes opened in Euless, and Wyatt and she chose to close their center. She then went to work for Showplace Lanes and joined Eric Nelson when he acquired both Euless and Garland locations, she worked side by side with Eric in building his two locations. Sherrie worked closely with Eric at his corporate office, and when he sold to AMF, she and Wyatt both moved to Bronco Bowl in Dallas. In 1998, she joined Neil Hupfauer at Main Event, helping build the entertainment chain into a profitable enterprise. After retiring from that chapter, she and Stacie were blessed with Cleburne Pin Center in June 2010, which Sherrie and Stacie shaped the center that was over 60 years old into what it is today. Sherrie was Stacie's mentor, teacher, and partner in the bowling life, as they worked together side by side since Stacie was 13 years old, and it is and was a good life, and one she lived completely. The bowling world was her family extended across the globe, and her dedication to it culminated in her induction into the Bowlers Hall of Fame in 2016, an honor that meant everything to her.

Sherrie was the smile, the joy, and the laughter of every room she entered. She loved concerts and collected memories with remarkable artists along the way. Sherrie was preceded in death by both her husbands, Bernie Parrish and Wyatt Slaughter; her beloved son Robert Parrish, whose passing in 2019 broke her heart in half; and her granddaughter Amaris Parrish, who left them last year at just twenty-two. She is survived by her daughters Stacie Parrish and Lindsay Slaughter; her grandchildren Tyson Allison, Shaun Lake, Randy Parrish, Antares Lake Cooper, Robbie Parrish, Kamron Harris, and her "favorite" the baby of her Grandchildren, Aniah Slaughter—a title everyone knew and everyone accepted with love. Her great-grandchildren are Isaiah Lake, Abbigail Allison Sherman, Jadyn Parrish, Anson Parrish, Kylynne Allison, Chase Allison and her "Corona virus triplets" born twelve days apart in January 2020: Kaitlyn Marie Flowers and Logan Alora Rose Stanley, followed by Kühl Jack Cooper in March of 2020, and the youngest additions, Johnny Don Flowers and Addalynn Grace Flowers. Among her siblings, she is survived by Bobby Dunham, Gary Ferguson, and Barbara Wright whom proceeded Sherrie. Her only living nephew is Scotty Wright, with numerous nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Her dearest friends included Leila Wagner, her former roommate at home and on the Ladies Pro Tour. Beverly Ballard, whom was her partner in countless adventures.

Sherrie Lynn Dunham Parrish Slaughter loved her family above all else. She had a heart of gold. If you were fortunate enough to be part of her life, she went over and beyond to help you become your best self. She helped so many throughout her years and left her mark on countless hearts. She dedicated her entire life to the bowling world, and everyone lucky enough to know her is forever changed because she was here.

Services will be held at Fort Worth United Methodist Church August 29th at 2pm at The First United Methodist Church in downtown Fort Worth. The family humbly asks all whom can to send flowers for her service to the Church as they desire to give her the Queens Farewell she deserves. Your love and prayers have meant so much to our Family.
