Sheri Ann McDevitt-Young

It is with great sadness that the family of Sheri Ann Schroeder-Young announce her passing on September 14, 2026, at the age of 62. She was born on January 25th, 1964, in Fort Worth to Charles and Marilyn Schroeder. Raised in the welcoming community of Hurst, she attended L.D. Bell High School, where she forged deep, long-lasting friendships. These connections spanned decades and became a cornerstone of her life.

While her daily life was firmly rooted in Texas, Sheri’s heart always held a special place for her family in Oklahoma. She lived for regular road trips, looking forward to long weekend visits and the joy of catching up with her relatives over home-cooked meals.

She will be fondly remembered for her infectious laugh, love for family, and her deep devotion to her faith. She is survived by her children, Amberly (Rudy) Gonzalez and Adam McDevitt. She’s also survived by her grandson Connor Brewer, her 2 sisters, Sonya (Mark) Tichenor and Shelley (Willie) Henderson, and her many nieces and nephews and countless friends. A viewing will be held at Lucas Funeral Home in Hurst, TX on Thursday, September 24th from 6-8pm. The funeral will be held at First Baptist Hurst on September 25th at 11am, with a reception to follow.
