Sharon Kay Austin

October 22, 1951 — December 30, 2023

Sharon Kay Austin, 72, passed away peacefully at her home in Fort Worth, Texas on December 30, 2023.

Sharon was born October 22, 1951 in Denver, Colorado to her loving parents Leon and Elva Gilmer. She graduated from Northglenn High School in 1970. Following high school, she graduated from Mesa Junior College in 1972 and then achieved her Bachelor's degree from Wayland Baptist University in 1975.

While in college, Sharon met and married the love of her life, William Terry Austin, on August 24, 1974. Sharon and Terry had three boys, Jeremy, Mathew and Andrew. Sharon’s boys were the light of her life and listening to them laugh with their father brought her so much joy. As a grandmother, Sharon thought the world of her grandchildren and enjoyed watching them grow up. Sharon also had an incredible bond with her sister Cathie. When the two of them spent time together there was no end to the amount of laughter and love they had for each other. They were best of friends their entire lives.

During her down time, Sharon enjoyed reading books and attending musicals and Broadway plays. She also enjoyed spending time watching movies and shopping but, most of all, she had a deep love for God.

She is preceded in death by father, Leon Gilmer; mother, Elva Gilmer and loving husband, William Terry Austin.

Sharon is survived by her 3 handsome sons, Jeremy (Jaclyn) Austin, Matthew (Tina) Austin and Andrew (Carey) Austin; grandchildren, Kayla (Zelik Cosio-Altamirano) Austin, Noah (Jillian) Austin, Sage Austin, Thaddeus Austin, Cyrus Austin, Atticus Austin, Lucian Austin and Ruby Austin; great grandchildren Artus Austin, Miles Austin and Milo Austin; sister, Cathie (Johnnie) Robertson; brother, Les (Kim) Gilmer, and many beloved nephews, nieces, and in-laws.
