Samuel Houston Ellis
Sam was born in Van Nuys, California, and never lived more than 25 miles from where he was born. UNTIL, June, 2021.
Retirement brought us to the DFW area to be part of Bethesda Community Church. In retrospect, it was the best decision we ever made in all our life!
Sam worked in the funeral business more than 35 years, serving both as a licensed Funeral Director and in management, ending his career at the famous Forest Lawn in Hollywood Hills, California.
In 1999, he received the prestigious Funeral Director of the Year Award in the State of California, by a vote of his peers in the state Funeral Director Association.
After retirement, Sam had the privilege of working part time for Lucas Family Funeral Homes.
Sam’s work was never a job, but a calling, helping people through one of the most difficult times of life.
As a very young adult, Sam was part of Nancy Harmon’s “Love Special” television ministry, as one of the Victory Voices traveling the world singing the Gospel message. Being a part of the Victory Voices was truly the highlight of Sam’s life!
Sam and Jan were married in 1994 and recently celebrated 32 wonderful years, making Christ the focal point of their life together.
We rejoice in knowing Sam healed and made whole in the presence of Jesus, May 1, 2026. No more cancer and no more pain. No more Doctors, scans, IV’s or hospitals!
Finally, at Home! Sitting at the feet of Jesus and walking streets of Gold!
