Sammy Greene

Sammy Kay Greene, 83 of Grapevine, TX formerly of Tulsa, OK passed away May 23, 2025 after a stay of 13 days in ICU at Baylor Med Cntr, Grapevine. She will be buried in Grapevine cemetery next to her son, Jody.

A celebration of life will be conducted by Rev. Charles Gamble on May 30 at 2:00 at Lucas funeral home in Grapevine, TX.

Sammy was born in Cushing, OK on Aug 12, 1941. Her mother was Ruth Pearl Brown & father Garland Larue Long. Sammy & her sister, Betty, lived in Cushing 6 yrs with their aunt Mary, while their mother attended school to advance her education. Sammy attended Will Rogers H.S. in Tulsa & graduated in 1959. She was a member of Rainbow girls & the H.S. marching band playing the clarinet. She met her husband James Greene, in 1957 And they were married in Tulsa, Oct 24 1959. They had 3 children. Jody born 1963, Connie born 1964 & Derek born 1970. The family moved to Grapevine, TX in 1985.

For about 20 years, Sammy enjoyed scuba diving in lakes & many Caribbean locations. After James retired, they traveled in all 50 states & 37 countries. Surviving are her daughter Connie Doyle, of Grapevine, & son Derek, of Highland Village & 6 grandchildren.
