Ronny Joe Henicke

Hurst

Ronny Joe Henicke (70), of Hurst, Texas, passed away on February 21, 2026, after a long and determined battle with cancer.

Ronny was a hard-nosed, hard-working man who met life head-on and on his own terms. He was known for his stubborn streak and could be cantankerous more often than not, but those who truly knew him understood that beneath that exterior was a man who cared deeply for his family and showed his love through loyalty, responsibility, and action.

Above all else, Ronny loved his wife of 31 years, Jennie, and was devoted to his family. He was a proud and committed stepfather to David and Meghan, who were stepchildren in name only, as he loved and cared for them as his own. One of his greatest joys was being “Grumpy” to Chilon, Mackenzie, and Madison, who knew they could always count on him to show up at a soccer match, school play or dance competition.

Ronny was skilled with his hands and took pride in being the person his family turned to when something needed fixing or building. He relished the challenge and the trust they placed in him. Providing, repairing, and solving problems was how he showed up for the people he loved most.

He was a proud American who served his country in the Army from 1974-1977 and staunchly defended the values it stood for.

Ronny didn’t seek praise or ceremony, but his presence was steady and dependable. His legacy lives on in the things he built, the problems he solved, and the family who knew they could rely on him—no questions asked.

He will be remembered for his toughness, his work ethic, and his unwavering commitment to the people he called his own.

Ronny is survived by his wife, Jennie, children David Hare (wife Chi) & Meghan Dill (husband Josh); granddaughters Chilon Clark, Mackenzie and Madison Dill; brothers James (Callie) & Glenn (Cindy), sister Liz Layton, brothers-in-law John & Bill O’Pry and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews & cousins that he loved dearly.
