Robert Ray Porter, 80, of Fort Worth, passed away on May 13, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.
Robert was born on September 27, 1945 in Fort Worth, and grew up there. He was a proud citizen of the Chickasaw Nation and carried a deep sense of duty, discipline, and perseverance throughout his life. As a young man, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, an experience that helped shape the strength of character and work ethic for which he would always be known.
Robert built a successful career as an executive in the software industry, serving in leadership roles with Uccel, Platinum Technology and Systemware. He approached his work with dedication and determination, always striving to provide a good life for his family. He was also known for his strong professional ethics and personal integrity, earning the respect and trust of his colleagues throughout his career, while providing a strong role model for his children.
Outside of work, Robert lived with energy and curiosity. He earned a black belt in Tae Kwon Do, was a carpenter and a master gardener, and could often be found immersed in building furniture and other do-it-yourself projects around the home. He took pride in working with his hands, solving problems, and building things that would last. He also enjoyed his grandchildren very much and loved watching them play music and sports.
More than any accomplishment, Robert will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and provider. He was a hard worker who cared deeply for his family and demonstrated his love through steady support, reliability, and presence throughout their lives.
Robert was preceded in death by his father, C.D. Owen Porter; his mother, Helen Porter; and his brother, Charles David Porter.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Judith Kay Porter; his sons Robert Matthew Porter and Paul Christian Porter; daughter Megan Marie Porter; daughters-in-law Stacy Porter and Keiko Porter; and grandchildren David Porter, Robby Porter, John Porter, Isaac Porter, Wyatt Woollard, Poppy Woollard, and Wade Woollard.
He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Blood Cancer United or Carter BloodCare in Robert’s memory.
