Robert “Bob” Michael Novotny
Robert “Bob” Michael Novotny, 81, of Hurst, Texas, passed away on October 29, 2026, after a life marked by many miracles and blessings that he survived in his health.
A beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, son, and friend, Bob will always be remembered for his devotion to his family, his quick wit, and his unforgettable jokes.
Born on June 29, 1945, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Bob spent 58 wonderful years married to his devoted wife, Jeanine Anne (Henderson). Together, they built a life filled with love and family, raising four children and welcoming five cherished grandchildren.
Bob is survived by his wife, Jeanine; his sons, Rob Novotny, Jr. (Kara) and Matthew Novotny; his daughter, Kelly Carter (Charles); and his beloved grandchildren, Emry and Keaton Novotny, Charlie Novotny, and Harrison and Macy Carter. He was preceded in death by his son, Michael Lee Novotny; his sister, Marlene Nicol; and his parents, Michael and Elizabeth Novotny.
Bob grew up in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and graduated from Florida Southern College in 1967. He proudly served in the United States Navy from 1968 to 1974, where he was commissioned as an officer and worked in highly classified naval communications. Following his honorable discharge, Bob eventually made his way to Hurst, Texas, where he called home for the past 53 years.
Throughout his life, Bob was an avid joke teller, lawn waterer, and strategizer - he was exceptionally smart and methodical, with a remarkable ability to connect people. He enjoyed keeping up with his children’s and grandchildren’s various sports, fantasy football, playing “worshers” (washers) in the backyard, playing ping-pong, and tending to his prized mandevilla. While never stagnant, his faith grew deeper with heartfelt, meaningful conversations about life and God, cementing his personal relationship with his Savior. He found great comfort in the promise of Philippians 2:11, living out and celebrating the simple truth that “Jesus is Lord.”
Anyone in Bob’s presence could always expect to hear a long, clever joke, often at the expense of the Dallas Cowboys. Even after living in Texas for more than 50 years, his loyalty to the Pittsburgh Steelers never wavered.
The family invites friends and loved ones to celebrate Bob’s life on November 20, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Lucas Funeral Home in Hurst, Texas.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude in Bob’s honor. Condolences may be shared with the family at www.lucasfuneralhomes.com.
Bob will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. His humor, his love for his family, and the memories he created will live on in the hearts of those he leaves behind.**
