A celebration of the life of Robert Lee McGaughey, 83, of Keller will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 16, 2026, at Keller Church of Christ. The family will receive guests from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. prior to the service at the church. Interment will follow at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery.
Robert passed away peacefully on May 1, 2026, in Keller. He was born on March 1, 1943, in Houston to Hugh and Lois McGaughey.
A proud veteran of the United States Army, Robert served his country with honor before continuing his education at Texas A&M University. He was a man of deep and abiding faith who found great joy in studying the Bible and sharing his knowledge by teaching others. His faith guided his life, and his love for his family was at the center of all he did.
Robert will be remembered for his steady presence, kind heart, and the wisdom he shared so freely. He leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion that will continue to live on through those who knew him.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Virginia McGaughey; his sons, Michael McGaughey and wife Rhonda, and Daniel McGaughey; his daughter, Jan Black and husband Stephen; and his cherished grandchildren, Zachary McGaughey and wife Kristina, Madison Aldaiz and husband Roman, Rachael Leeker and husband Adam, Mackenzie Selby and husband Alex, Brylee Black, Megan Scharfman and husband Jonathan, Catherine McGaughey, and Brayden Black and wife Jadin. He is also survived by his great-grandchildren, Nia, Travis James, Chloe, and Parker, who brought him great pride and joy.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his grandson, Jonathon Travis McGaughey; and his brother, Richard McGaughey.
Robert’s life was a testament to faith, service, and love—a life well lived and one that will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
