Robert Edward Hennessey

January 26, 1945 — May 31, 2026

Robert (Bob) E Hennessey III of Haslet, TX passed away on May 31st under Hospice care. Bob was born at West Point, NY and raised in New Windsor, NY. He is survived by his wife of 51 years Lorraine Fremgen Hennessey, daughter Jill Adams, son Robert E. Hennessey IV, son-in-law John Adams, granddaughters Lily and Rose Adams, sisters Karen Denisi and Maureen Hargraves and brother-in-law Dominic Denisi as well as a plethora of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Catherine Hennessey and his younger sister, Kathy Hennessey.

Bob was in the United States Navy and served during the Vietnam era. While he never traveled out of Brooklyn he was proud of his service to his country. He worked for IBM for 43 years, which sent him all over the United States and to Tokyo, Japan, before settling back in Texas. Bob was an avid volunteer in the Catholic church for his entire life and was a proud member of the Knights of Columbus. He exemplified the four principles of charity, unity, fraternity and patriotism.

He never met a stranger and had an enormous joyfulness for life that filled any room.

Bob was kind, intelligent, hard-working and loved people. He loved golfing, time with friends, spoiling his fur babies and spending time with his family, especially his two granddaughters. He leaves an enormous legacy of love, joy, hugs and his trademark saying, “It is what it is.” He lived with a grateful mindset in all that he did and will be deeply missed by everyone who knew and loved him.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Pregnancy Help 4U (https://ph4upartners.org/), UT Southwestern Moncrief Medical Center Ft. Worth or St. Jude.
