Robert A. Griffith was born to Edgar J. & Alice B. Griffith on June 13, 1939, in Hopkinton, Massachusetts. Robert’s family moved to Fort Worth, Texas around 1949 where he graduated from Arlington Heights High School in 1957. He attended Arlington State College (now known as University of Texas at Arlington) for a year before enlisting in the United States Navy.
In July 1958, Robert reported aboard VR-21 Fleet Logistics Support Squadron & progressed to Second Flight Radioman on R6D type aircraft. He then went to ARN-21 school & was the mainstay of the maintenance & performance of the Squadron’s TACAN transreceivers as an Aviation Electronics Technician Second Class. Robert entered the Naval Reserve in 1962 & was honorably discharged from the Navy on July 27, 1964. After serving in the Navy, Robert returned to Fort Worth where he became employed by General Motors in Arlington, Texas, where he worked until he retired in 1997.
Robert became reacquainted with Delois Sherman having previously dated in high school. They married on September 30, 1966. They moved to Burleson, Texas in 1969 where they raised their daughters, Nikki & Delinda. Robert & Delois became parishioners at Holy Cross Episcopal Church in Burleson where Robert served as junior & senior warden, as well as a convention delegate. He was an avid gardener plus a history & trivia buff.
Robert passed away on October 27, 2024. He is survived by daughter, Nikki Wilson & her husband David; grandsons Sean & Travis Wilson; granddaughter-in-law, Melissa Wilson; cherished great-granddaughter, Rebecca Wilson; sister, Marianne Griffith; sister-in-law, Maxine Harrod; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, great-nephews, great-nieces & dear friends. He will be remembered by all who loved him.
