Richard L. White, lovingly known as Rick, passed away peacefully on September 2, 2025, after a courageous battle with Huntington’s Disease. As the sun set behind the Rockies, his journey came to a gentle close.
Born in Dallas, TX, Rick was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Mary Lois (Etheridge) White.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 35 years, Caren “Cara” O’Neill White; sister, Cindy White Hill; brother, Rodney White (Melody); nieces and nephews, Trent White (Bobbi), Tyler White, Amy Hill, Christy Scoresby (Blake), Alex White; great-nieces and nephews, Avery, Daisy, and Noah; and many beloved aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Rick grew up in Irving, TX, graduated from MacArthur High School, and earned his Finance degree, Cum Laude, from Stephen F. Austin University. In 1986, he joined his father at State Farm, and together they served clients for 57 years.
A true sports enthusiast, Rick cheered on the Cowboys, OU, and occasionally Cara’s Georgia Bulldogs. He loved fishing, photography, golf, woodworking, puzzles, and mastering Sudoku. A fan of fast cars, rock and roll, and quality sound systems, Rick found joy in the simple and adventurous alike. He especially loved exploring the Colorado mountains.
Together, Rick and Cara built a life full of adventure—scuba diving, skydiving, and traveling across the U.S., Canada, Ireland, Hawaii, and Alaska. They created a home filled with love and memories, often remodeling, road-tripping, or relaxing with friends and family.
Rick had a kind heart, gentle spirit, and deep commitment to giving back. He and Cara organized fundraising golf tournaments for the North Texas Special Olympics and supported Christ’s Haven for many years.
Rick’s warmth, strength, and love will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. His final resting place, among Colorado’s majestic peaks, is a perfect tribute to his adventurous soul.
A memorial service will take place at Lucas Funeral Home Grapevine on Sunday, September 7, at 2:00. Friends and family are invited to a reception following at the White home.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to HDSA.org to support families impacted by Huntington’s Disease and advance the search for a cure.
