Richard Edward Staskus

Oct 14, 1956 — Jul 5, 2026

Richard Edward Staskus, lovingly known as Rick or Rich, age 69, beloved husband, father, brother, and faithful servant of the Lord, passed away on July 5, 2026.

Richard was known as one of the most positive people you could ever meet, always smiling and always finding the bright side of things. Even in his final days, when movement became difficult and each day brought new obstacles, his strength, optimism, and gentle spirit continued to encourage those around him.

Richard was a devoted husband to Pamela, his wife of 32 years, and he will be deeply missed as they would have celebrated their 33rd wedding anniversary on August 14. He was also a loving father to Morgan Shelby and Faith McKenzie. When Rick spoke about his wife and children, those who knew him could see in his eyes and hear in his voice just how deeply he loved them. He treasured Saturday morning coffee talks with Morgan and late-night discussions with his “late night house mouse,” Faith, who was recently engaged to Brandon. Richard was especially thankful when Matt joined the family as Morgan’s husband and became a steady, loving rock in her life. During Richard’s final month, Morgan and Matt devoted themselves to staying with Richard and Pamela, offering steady love and support even though they lived only 15 minutes away. Though Rick (KPop) will not be able to share in the joys of future grandchildren, his family takes comfort in knowing he will be watching over them from above.

He was also cherished by his sister, Barbara, and her fiancé, Jeff, and his brother, Thomas, and his wife, Sepi, along with all those who loved him, touched his life, and whose lives were touched by him. His family was one of the great joys of his life, and he loved them deeply.

A dedicated servant of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Richard lived his faith with sincerity and strength. He was a tremendous prayer warrior whose compassion, encouragement, and steadfast devotion touched the lives of many. To his faithful prayer warriors: he loved you and was blessed by each of you.

Richard was also a proud U.S. Army Reserves veteran and served during Operation Iraqi Freedom. His service reflected his dedication, strength, and commitment to something greater than himself.

Richard retired after 30 years as a CTE Business teacher, leaving behind a legacy of service, patience, and care for the many students whose lives he influenced. His commitment to teaching reflected his generous heart and his desire to make a meaningful difference in the lives of others.

Outside of his work and ministry, Richard enjoyed boating, coin collecting, relaxing in the swim spa, and, in recent years, listening to audiobooks. He will be remembered for his faith, his love for his family, and the lasting impact he made on all who knew and loved him. His joyful spirit, unwavering faith, and gentle smile will continue to live on in the hearts of those blessed to know him.
