Keller

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Richard J. “RJ” Hudson, a beloved and steadfast husband, father, brother, son, colleague and friend to all who knew him. Though words cannot fully express the heartache of his absence, we celebrate a life that was filled with friendship, love, grace, generosity, and warmth.

Rich or RJ Hudson is most known for his work as a Grapevine Police Motor Officer, his passion for woodworking, metal fabrication, drumming, pipe making, and for his love of fishing. Beyond these skills though he was always a friend and never met a stranger.  His kind and thoughtful deeds touched many lives and created lifelong friendships.

Richard John Hudson, 54, of Keller, TX, died peacefully at his home after a long and courageous battle with cancer on Monday August 25th, 2025.

He was born in Harlow England on April 17th, 1971, at Princess Alexandra Hospital to Roy and Joan Hudson, where they lived before moving up country to Runcorn near Liverpool. This started his passion for football and LFC. In 1980, Roy convinced the family to emigrate to Texas where they began the next chapter of their lives together.

Richard attended Richland High School where he was in the marching band on drums before attending Tarrant County College and the Bedford Police Academy. He started his law enforcement career in March of 1995 with the Bedford Police Department and joined the Grapevine Police Department in January of 2005, where he worked for 18 years as a motorcycle officer. Throughout his 30-year career, he led by example and inspired those around him both on and off duty.

Richard met the love of his life, Angie, while working in Bedford. He knew right away she was the one and asked Patsy his future mother-in-law if he could present a promise ring. They enjoyed going out dancing and spending time together at Texas Tech football games. Excited to start their new lives together, the two were married on April 1st, 2000, in Colleyville TX.

Richard and Angie started their family in June 2001 with the birth of their daughter Bailey, who meant the world to them. Growing up, they spent countless hours with Bailey cheering her on during all kinds of cheerleading events and competitions.  Richard also enjoyed teaching her to golf and fish.

Richard was a kind and giving person to all his friends and family, always going out of his way to come up with thoughtful and personalized handmade gifts. He also gave freely of his time and energy to help those that needed a hand or some words of encouragement.

Richard is survived by his wife Angie Hudson, daughter and son-in-law Bailey & Jared Spradling, parents Roy & Joan Hudson, brother and sister-in-law Eric & Jennifer Hudson and their children Adam Hudson, Tori & Ian Brothers, & Haley Hudson, and brother and sister-in-law Christopher & Melissa Hudson and their children Adelina Hudson, Clara Hudson, & Eliana Hudson, mother-in-law and father-in-law Bill & Patsy Lebo, and by his aunts, uncles, and cousins Carole Disbrey, Tony, Hannah & George Disbrey, Neil Disbrey, Sorcha, Erin & Bonnie Disbrey, John & Jane Espiner, Will & Sam, Harry, Ellie Espiner, Simon & Hannah, Rory, Eoin Espiner.

Richard was preceded in death by his Grandparents Ernest & Nellie Hudson, Peggy Adey and Ronald Espiner, Uncle Geoff Disbrey, brother-in-law Chip Farrar, and father-in-law Monty Farrar.
