Richard Andrew Eager

Richard "Dick" Andrew Eager Sr., 89, peacefully passed Tuesday, July 28, 2026, in the comfort of his home surrounded by the love of his family.

Born on January 20, 1937, in Mankato, Minnesota, Dick lived a life defined by faithfulness, service, hard work, and an unwavering love for others. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force for 26 years, dedicating nearly three decades to protecting the nation he loved. Following his military retirement, he continued serving people as a Chick-fil-A Owner/Operator for 15 years, where he was known for his leadership, kindness, and genuine care for everyone who walked through his doors.

Above every accomplishment, Dick's greatest joy was his family. He was a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather and great-grandfather. For 68 years, he shared an extraordinary love story with his beloved wife, Kay, whose passing in April left a space only Heaven could fill. We find comfort knowing they are now reunited, walking the streets of gold together in the presence of Jesus.

Dick was the proud father of three children: his oldest son, Richard; his middle son, Scott; and his youngest daughter, Julia. His legacy continues through them, his eight grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren, each of whom was deeply loved by him and blessed by his presence, encouraging words, and playful spirit.

Anyone who knew Dick knew he was truly one of a kind. He had an incredible work ethic, a servant's heart, and an unforgettable sense of humor. His quick wit and timeless sayings brought laughter to countless family gatherings. One favorite that will forever make us smile was his cheerful declaration, "We're off like a herd of turtles!" It perfectly reflected his ability to find joy in life's ordinary moments and remind us not to take ourselves too seriously.

Dick is survived by his brother, Chelsea; his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, who will carry forward the values, faith, and love he modeled so well.

His life was a testament to faithful service to God, his country, his family, and to everyone blessed enough to know him. Though he will be deeply missed, his legacy of love, laughter, integrity, and unwavering devotion will live on for generations to come.
