Richard Allen Chalk, a devoted family man, seasoned pilot, and proud veteran, passed away peacefully on May 22, 2026, in Lewisville, TX. Born on March 31, 1948, in Covington, KY, Rich lived a life marked by dedication, adventure, and a deep commitment to those he loved.
After enlisting in the United States Air Force, Rich flew C-130 aircraft and bravely participated in several sorties during the Vietnam War, a testament to his courage and patriotism. During his military service, he was awarded the Air Medal and the Distinguished Flying Cross for his exceptional service and valor. Following his military career, he embarked on a distinguished aviation career, retiring in 2008 after 30 years of exemplary service as a pilot with American Airlines where his met his wife of 48 years, Linda. During his career, he skillfully piloted Boeing 767 aircraft and also shared his expertise as a private charter pilot.
Rich passion for flying was matched only by his love of family and sports. He was a cherished coach, dedicating countless hours to supporting and guiding his children in their sporting endeavors. His enthusiasm extended beyond the sidelines, as he enjoyed playing pool volleyball with his family, delighting them with his compelling stories and infectious sense of humor. He was also a golfer, both on the course and as a spectator, and found pleasure in reading military mysteries. Together with his wife, Linda, Richard embraced the joy of travel, exploring the world and creating lasting memories.
Family was at the heart of Richard’s life. He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Linda Chalk; his son, Curtis Chalk (spouse – Amber); and his daughter, Corine Rosales (spouse – Michael). His legacy continues through his grandchildren, Ansley Chalk, Aubrey Chalk, Parker Rosales, and Reese Rosales, who carry forward his spirit and values. Richard’s brothers—Tom Chalk (spouse – Peg), Mike Chalk (spouse – Melissa), and Dave Chalk (spouse – Eileen)—also survive him, sharing in the mourning of their beloved brother. He was preceded in death by his parents, Rosemary Tenhundfeld Chalk and Richard Earl Chalk.
A Funeral Mass to honor Richard’s life and faith will be held on Friday, May 29, 2026, beginning at 11:00 AM at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church followed by a Celebration of Life at the Trophy Club Country Club. The community is invited to gather in remembrance and celebration of a man whose life was filled with dedication, laughter, and unwavering love.
