Rasika always had a smile on his face, not just to show his own joy, but to light up the lives of everyone around him. Every action he took was inherently selfless, filled with care and love, weaving the connections that enriched his life and those around him.
In his early years spent in Sri Lanka, Rasika became a father figure to his younger siblings, Champika and Anil, after their father passed away when he was just seven. From a young age, he grew a sense of responsibility and strength that would define him throughout his life. Guided by a natural intellect and endless curiosity, he was also a passionate athlete, competing in track, boxing, and karate cultivating determination and discipline.
It was at Brown and Company Ltd., he met the love of his life, Udeshika, beginning a partnership that would become the heart of his story. Later, he became a skilled computer programmer, and his talent and ambition brought him and his family to the United States during the Y2K era. Together, he and Udeshika built a beautiful life centered on their two children, Yuthika and Sahani. Family was his greatest motivation; providing them with limitless opportunities was his deepest passion. He was their role model, confidant, guiding star in life, and best friend. No matter the distance or obstacle, they could always count on Rasika to be there with patience, understanding, and unwavering love.
Rasika cared deeply for his extended family - they could lean on him without hesitation and he gave of himself freely and wholeheartedly. His mother-in-law lovingly called him her “golden son” because of the devotion he showed to the whole family. His compassion and generosity extended far beyond family - to friends, his temple community, and anyone in need. Rasika embraced life fully and loved new experiences, traveling to Japan, Dubai, across Europe, throughout America, and more. Wherever he went, he always sought out the spiciest dish on the menu and finest IPA on tap. He took immense pride in preparing meals and drinks for his loved ones - most often a perfectly grilled steak paired with a Glenlivet 12 year whiskey. Rasika cherished his friends deeply and was effortlessly the life of the party, with a signature dance that was unmatched.
Rasika’s love and spirit lives on in the countless lives he made brighter. He loved selflessly with his entire heart and was a source of strength, comfort, and joy. We’ll cherish every lesson he taught, every memory created, and every life he touched forever.
In lieu of planting a tree, the family has asked that donations be made to the American Heart Association.
