Ramona LaVonne Hanley

Apr 21, 1938 — Jun 23, 2026

Bedford, Texas

It is with hearts of gratitude and love for a life well lived that we announce the passing of Ramona LaVonne Hanley, 88, of Bedford, Texas. She took her final bow – unafraid – and ready for her next adventure on June 23, 2026 surrounded by her loving family.

Ramona was born in Elrod, Indiana, the youngest daughter of William and Opal (Waldon) Polston. She graduated from Versailles High School in 1956, then went on to college at Andrews University (formerly Emmanuel Missionary College) in Michigan.

Some of Ramona’s most significant accomplishments occurred later in life. She completed her education at Southern Methodist University School of Business Legal Assistant Program to become a paralegal, retired from American Airlines, and became Nana to her grandson.

Ramona inherited her love of travel from her father who would take his family on annual road trips. She traveled extensively, visiting more than 20 countries, to see the world and visit family and friends. Ramona enjoyed playing cards and games, reading, swimming, and going to estate sales.

Ramona was a loving mother, mother-in-law, Nana, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend. She was loyal and fiercely independent. She lived life on her own terms with grace, courage, and generosity. Ramona was a woman of quiet faith and a beloved daughter of God. She was the epitome of a lady. She will be greatly missed and forever remembered.

Remaining to cherish Ramona’s memory are daughter Mona Young and husband Marc, daughter Natalie Martinez and husband Antonio, grandson Nicolas Martinez, nieces, great nephew, cousins, extended family, and friends. Preceding her in death are parents William and Opal Polston, and sister Ann Wyatt.

Ramona’s Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.

Memorial donations in Ramona’s memory may be directed to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
