It is with deep love and sadness, that our family announces the passing of Petru Ciufudean (Pepis), a devoted husband, cherished father, proud grandfather and great-grandfather, and a kind and honorable man. He passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family, after a courageous four-year battle with cancer. He was 90 years old.
Born in Romania, Pepis lived a life filled with strength, compassion, and integrity. A former Reserve Colonel in the Romanian military, he served his country with pride and dedication, earning the respect of all that knew him. His discipline and sense of duty were matched only by his gentleness and warmth at home.
He was the beloved husband of Maria Ciufudean, his partner and best friend for 67 years, a lifetime of love and devotion. Together they built a beautiful family and a home filled with respect, faith, and love.
To his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, Pepis was a source of endless wisdom, kindness, and encouragment. He taught by example - through quiet strength and patience, and a heart that always put others first. His gentle smile and caring spirit will be deeply missed, but his love will live on in the hearts in the hearts of all who were blessed to know him.
The family wishes to thank the Alpha-Omega Hospice team and caregivers, and the JPS Hospital team who provided such compassionate support in his final months.
A service to honor and celebrate his life will be held at St. Mary's Romanian Orthodox Church, 3801 Glade Rd., Colleyville, Texas, on Monday, December 8th at 11:30 am. Burial will follow at Grapevine Cemetery, 857 North Dooley Steet, Grapevine.
