Peggy Jean Akin, born on November 27, 1930, in Fort Worth, Texas, left this world on Saturday, August 15, 2026, at the age of 95. A gracious matriarch, beloved mother, and friend, Peggy’s life was a tapestry delicately woven with compassion, steadfastness, and unwavering love for her family and those whose lives she touched.
Growing up in Fort Worth, Peggy was cherished as a daughter by her parents, Ione Wanamaker Mosley and E.E. Mosley, Sr., and as a sister to Betty Lou Mosley and E.E. "Hoot" Mosley—all of whom preceded her in death. Peggy is survived by her half-brother, Ron Russell of Ohio. The values instilled by her family guided Peggy throughout her many years and blossomed into the gentle strength for which she was endlessly admired.
Peggy dedicated part of her life to guiding the young minds of her community as a substitute teacher. In the classroom, she was more than an educator; she was a beacon of patience and encouragement, nurturing countless students with warmth and wisdom. Her influence extended far beyond the lesson plans, as she modeled kindness, curiosity, and respect in every interaction.
But Peggy’s heart found its deepest purpose in her role as a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She is survived by her loving children—Jan Pairsh (spouse – Larry Sawyer), Jay Russell “Rusty” Akin (spouse - Jennifer), Gordon Randall “Randy” Akin (spouse – Lynne), Jack Thomas Akin, Jr. (spouse – Meredith), and daughter Julie Anne Akin. Each child, in their own way, has carried forward her legacy of love, tenacity, and grace.
The joy of her family continued to grow with the arrival of nine grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. Peggy delighted in their laughter, cheered on their accomplishments, and provided a steady hand and a loving heart through both moments of joy and times of trial. Her presence was a constant, gentle reassurance in the lives of those she held dear.
Also surviving Peggy is Little Bit, her beloved Chihuahua, whose companionship enriched her days and brought extra warmth and cheer to her household.
Those who knew Peggy will forever recall her humility and quiet strength, her generous spirit, and faithfulness to her loved ones. She was a cherished link in a chain of generations, a source of stories, lessons, and unconditional love—a legacy that will continue to ripple through her family and community for years to come.
As we bid farewell to Peggy Jean Akin, we remember her not with sadness but with gratitude for a life well-lived—a life whose influence will endure in every loving memory shared and in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her.
