Paula McElroy Felty was born on November 14, 1944, in Hobbs, New Mexico, to Bruce and Kathleen McElroy. As a child she lived in Atmore, Alabama, San Angelo, Texas and Lubbock, Texas, and graduated high school at Monterrey High School, Lubbock.
Paula worked at American Airlines for 25 years, creating lifelong friendships and traveling throughout the world. She loved music, playing and singing in a trio in high school, and was at the forefront of West Texas musicians’ genre in the 60’s and 70’s, even sneaking out of her dorm at Abilene Christian College in pants with her guitar on her back to go sing and play music. She was a Master Gardener in Parker County working on many projects in the area including Clark and Chandor Gardens. She was an avid potter, and her works will be cherished. She was a member of the United Methodist Church.
Preceded in death by her parents, her beloved brothers Gary Bruce McElroy and Manny Kay McElroy, Paula leaves behind her only daughter Victoria Barker Pino and her husband Aaron, sister Donna Davis, many nieces and nephews, a host of cousins and family friends that will miss her forever.
Paula blessed her family and friends with a legacy of love, laughter, and unforgettable memories. We honor her life, her love, and her spirit.
Paula’s celebration of life will be held at the Fort Worth Botanic Garden with forthcoming details.
