Patrick Clyde Shahan, 58, of North Richland Hills, Texas, passed away peacefully on March 6, 2026, surrounded by his wife Jennifer, daughter Liv, grandbaby Zeppelin, and his four-legged buddies Dave, Mika, and Esme. He was a cherished husband, father, uncle, son, friend, (and much to his delight) “Pops,” and he will be greatly missed.
Patrick was born on February 28, 1968, in Oak Cliff, Texas. He was the fifth of six children and from childhood loved playing baseball with his father, little brother, and friends – many of whom he would meet in middle school and keep for the rest of his life. He graduated from Desoto High School in 1986 and had already impacted many by his genuine spirit and kindness.
After graduating high school, he became a supervisor at Payless Cashways, where he would meet his wife, Jennifer, in 1988. Knowing he had met the love of his life, he proposed to her, then married the woman he’d spend the rest of his life with on March 18, 1989. They were married for 37 loving years; of his many achievements, his family was his pride and joy.
He graduated with a degree in business management from the University of Texas at Arlington. He was loved by many teams before joining Metaltech Omega in 2013, where he served as National Sales Director. Patrick was also a beloved umpire within the DFW Softball community.
Patrick loved baseball; he enjoyed visiting ballparks wherever he traveled. Depending on the season, he loved to spend his free time umpiring, watching the Cowboys or Rangers, listening to music, and attending concerts. What Patrick loved most of all was Jenn. Whether they were traveling to one of the many vineyards around the country they had visited or simply sipping on the patio or watching a show on the couch. Time with his beloved Jenn ,family, and friends was time well spent. Finally, and to him, most importantly, he was a devoted follower of Christ. In both his finest and darkest moments, he was steadfast in the Lord and used his testimony to inspire others.
Patrick is survived by his wife, Jennifer Shahan, his daughter, Olivia Shahan, his grandson, Zeppelin “stinky monkey nugget” Shahan, his siblings, many nieces and nephews, and friends who are more like family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Maurine and Clyde Shahan.
A memorial for Patrick will be held at 1 p.m. on March 15, 2026, at Lucas Funeral Home in Hurst. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
Patrick’s family is starting a non-profit to benefit families similar to his who are also affected by ALS. Information on the foundation in his honor will be posted at a later date. Should you have any questions about how to help or would like to make a donation to the foundation, please contact the family.
