Patrick Lee Palumbo, affectionately known to friends and family as “Lumbo,” passed away on October 8, 2026, at the age of 69.
Born on April 25, 1957, Pat was the firstborn of seven children to Joe and Marion Palumbo. Because his father served as an officer in the United States Army, the Palumbo family moved frequently during Pat’s youth, creating a tight-knit sibling bond and a lifetime of shared adventures.
His early athletic journey began with childhood flag football and baseball. This included a memorable time as a left-handed catcher for multiple baseball teams and on the gridiron playing [Fullback and Linebacker] for the Peters Township High School football team in McMurray, Pennsylvania. His family's military travels eventually brought them to Texas, where Pat graduated from Copperas Cove High School. He went on to earn a degree in Accounting from Southwest Texas State University in San Marcos.
Pat possessed a natural gift for leadership and spent his career managing a variety of restaurants. He was especially well-known for running a popular country & western dance hall and bar in Harker Heights, Texas. It was during these years that he built a life with his wife, Terri (Parker) Palumbo. The couple shared 11 years of marriage in Harker Heights until Terri's deeply mourned passing from Lupus. Though they did not have children of their own, Pat cherished the time he could spend with his many nieces, nephews and grandnieces/nephews.
Beyond his career, Pat was a passionate baseball enthusiast and a diehard, lifelong fan of the Cleveland (Indians) Guardians. He was a natural at trivia, possessing an incredible mind that could recall sports statistics and facts with the very best of them—a talent that constantly entertained those around him. He was a consummate reader with an affinity for detective, espionage, thriller and action books, especially those written by Clancy, Baldacci, and Patterson. He will be fondly remembered for his sharp intellect, his love of the game, his fierce loyalty to those he held dear, and his wonderful wit and sense of humor. Things were never dull around Pat.
Pat was preceded in death by his devoted wife, Terri; his father, Joe Palumbo; and his brother, Joe Palumbo.
He is survived by his loving mother, Marion Palumbo; his siblings, Jim (Lani) Palumbo, Tom (Kristin) Palumbo, Linda (Mike) Krueger, Judie (Dave) Lattimer, and Penny Palumbo; sister-in-law, Sandy (Joe) Palumbo, as well as a large, adoring extended family of many nieces, nephews, and grandnieces/nephews.
A 'Celebration of Life' is being planned for 12 Dec in Fort Worth, TX with details to follow. In honor of Pat's wife (Terri) we request a donation to the Lupus Research Alliance, in lieu of flowers.
