Patrick Gerard Heniff, born August 31, 1963, in Chicago, Illinois, passed away peacefully at his home in Irving, TX on August 16, 2025.
Patrick was the beloved son of Jo-Ann Morrissey and the cherished husband and life partner of John Mayo. Together, Patrick and John shared 28 wonderful years, including 11 years of marriage.
A 1981 graduate of James B. Conant High School, Patrick dedicated 29 years of service to American Airlines as a valued member of Fleet Services.
Patrick lived life with passion and heart. He was a student of the Spanish language and loved speaking it with anyone he could, embracing the music, culture, and people it connected him to. He found joy on the open waters in a boat and had a deep appreciation for classic cars. Music was one of his great loves, with tastes ranging from Chayenne, The Clash, and Depeche Mode to Frank Sinatra.
Patrick was also a devoted “dog father” to Monster, Bobby, and Roxie, and a strong supporter of both human and animal rights.
Patrick is survived by his mother, Jo-Ann Morrissey; his siblings, Mary, Joe, and Frank; and his husband, John Mayo.
He was a wonderful uncle to his nieces and nephews, Matt, Kara, Toni, Luke, Wes, and Desiree. Known for finding the good in everyone, Patrick was kind-hearted, loyal, supportive, and a best friend to many.
Family and friends are invited to a visitation on Monday, August 25, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Lucas Funeral Home in Grapevine, Texas.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Best Friends Animal Sanctuary or a charity of your choice in Patrick’s memory.
Patrick’s caring spirit, love of life, and ability to bring joy to others will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him.
