Patricia Sue Pace Perdue, 87 of Burleson, Texas passed away on June 23, 2025, in Southlake.
Born September 30, 1937, in Shreveport, Louisiana she was known lovingly as “Pat”. She was the daughter of Rembert Wyman Pace and Mabel Maureen Cassity Pace of Carthage, Texas. Pat was one of 5 children of whom her siblings preceded her in death upon their births to Rembert and Mabel. As a result, being the survivor and the only granddaughter, she was truly adored by her parents, grandparents, many aunts, uncles, and cousins. She was a special love to her parents. She was born several weeks premature and was so tiny, she was kept warm and nurtured in a shoe box for her first few weeks of life. Pat attended Carthage schools most of her life and graduated from Carthage High School in 1956. Her family was all around Carthage back in the small-town days and she would play outside with cousins and friends a lot of the time as a young girl involving lots of ranch animals. As a high school student, she was involved in the band’s color guard all four years. Shortly after high school, she moved to Dallas where she worked as a receptionist. She and her friends would head out on the weekends for some fun at the local Honky Tonk to dance and mingle. It was there she bumped into Henry Claude “Bud” Perdue and fell in love on February 7th, got engaged on February 21st and just a few short months later on May 10, 1958, and were married 48 years until Bud’s passing in 2007. It was definitely love at first sight.
Pat and Bud moved to Arlington, Texas where they started their family and eventually Pat began to attend college. She graduated from Texas Women’s University where she earned her degree in Special Education. She became a certified Special Education teacher and taught Special Ed and Primary Education in Burleson, Texas after they had relocated from Arlington. Pat came from a family of teachers and chose to follow the same path. She taught for 22 years in the Burleson ISD where she had the chance to also get involved in teaching elementary science. She really enjoyed teaching science to children and getting them curious by providing hands on scientific experiences.
After she retired, she continued to substitute teach for another 11 years. Aside from being a teacher, mom of four and wife, she was a member of the Does or the women of the Benevolent & Protective Order of the Elks of the Arlington chapter where Bud was an Elk. She was the chapter pianist for many years. She was also a member of Beta Sigma Phi, a women’s national service organization.
In retirement she and Bud loved to travel around the U.S., Hawaii and some parts of Europe. She loved Bingo and was a very good poker player. She always had a knack for board games and card games. She was fond of poetry and young in life, she enjoyed oil painting. Pat adored time with her family celebrating the Holidays, traveling, attending sports activities, and graduations or weddings. She had an army of friends following Bud’s passing and was often doing game nights, dinners and meetings. She was a wonderful person and loved her family very much.
She was a beloved daughter, wife, mother and grandmother who is survived by daughter, Darla and husband Kevin Herrin of Bay Minette, Alabama. Son, Ken Perdue and wife Kelly of Keller, Texas. Daughter’s-n-laws, Sandy Perdue and Stacy Foust. Grandchildren Shauna Maddle, Jessica Perdue, William Perdue, Tara Perdue, Mica Herrin, Neena, Hollie and Sophie Perdue. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Bud Perdue, her sons Dirk and Cliff Perdue and grandchildren, Darla, Haylee and Justin Perdue.
