Ottoma (Toby) Lynn Odom, a beloved resident of Hurst, Texas, passed peacefully from this life on the evening of September 19th, 2024, after a fall and decline in health. In her final days, she was lovingly surrounded by her devoted family and compassionate caregivers.
Born in Levelland, Texas, Toby made Hurst her home in 1968. She spent her years in the family residence where she and her husband Haskell raised their three children, creating a nurturing environment that would remain her haven until her passing. Her enduring love story began with her marriage to Haskell Odom on June 29th, 1956, in Clovis, NM., a union that lasted until his passing on May 11th, 1992.
Toby was an active member of the PTA, where she stayed deeply involved in her children’s schools as they were growing up. She worked as an Operations Manager for QuadraMed before transitioning to Medical Records at Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital. Post-retirement, Toby continued to serve her community by volunteering at the same hospital where she worked.
Toby is survived by three children (and spouses): Joel Odom (Raynell), Greg Odom (Kim), and Nancy Odom (David); six grandchildren (and spouses): Dawn Richmond (Pat), Joshua Odom (Jessica), Jared Odom (Jonell), Rachel Hibbs (Clark), Ashley Rodrigues (Miguel), and Katherine Odom (Kenny); and step-grandchildren Calahan and Sam.
She was proud of her beautiful brood of great-grandchildren: Taryn Richmond, Reid Richmond, Nora Rodrigues, Bryson Gomez, Mayson Odom, Ezra Rodrigues, Micah Rodrigues, Lila Hibbs, Birdie Hibbs, and Myloh Gustafson.
Remembrance and Gratitude
The family extends heartfelt thanks to all who offered support during this challenging time. Special gratitude is expressed to the excellent medical staff and Chaplain at Texas Health Harris Hospital, Fort Worth, and the wonderful caregivers at Community Healthcare of Texas. The family kindly suggests donations be made to North East Emergency Distribution (N.E.E.D) DFW, a non-profit organization whose sole mission is to help provide food, clothing, TXU payments, and bus vouchers for those in need.
