OC Archer, of Hurst, TX, was called to be with his Heavenly Father on May 23, 2026, at the remarkable age of 94. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and trusted friend to so many.
Born on February 7, 1932, OC was part of a generation that believed in hard work, loyalty, and lending a helping hand whenever it was needed. He proudly served his country in the Korean War with the United States Army from December 3, 1952, until October 22, 1954. His time in the military was a source of great pride and reflected the patriotism and strength that remained with him throughout his life.
Following his military service, OC dedicated more than four decades to the railroad industry, working faithfully for the Fort Worth and Denver Railway and later Burlington Northern Railroad from November 7, 1950, until his retirement on January 31, 1994.
Retirement did not slow OC down. From 1995 until 2016, he became locally known as “Mr. Fix-It,” helping friends, neighbors, and family with handyman work of every kind. If something was broken, OC could fix it — and usually with a smile, a story, and wisdom to share along the way.
Above all else, OC treasured his family. He is survived by his beloved wife of 74 years, Nadine Archer; his son, Randy Archer (Thim); grandson, Jonathan Archer (Destiny & Evelyn); Katharine Hough Liscio (Dan); great-granddaughter, Jade Hough (Autumn, Mila, and Liam) and by his only brother Bill Archer out of seven siblings.
OC was preceded in death by parents, Sammy “Cloyd” and Ottice Archer, and past siblings Annie Mae Archer Brown, Algie Archer, Maxine Archer Lemons, Rosemary Archer Hazeltine, Norman Archer.
OC will be remembered for his steady presence, kind heart, quick wit, and willingness to help anyone in need. He lived a full and meaningful life, leaving behind countless memories, lessons, and love that will continue for generations.
