Norman Thomas Cooper was born into this world on August 19th, 1935, and departed this Earth on June 1st, 2026 at the age of 90. He was preceded in death by his parents Kelly and Kitty Cooper, his brother Kelly, and his first wife Ann. He is survived by his wife of 13 years Betty June Davis, son Chris Cooper and wife Lynn, daughter Page Hindman, and his adopted daughter Carrie Wood, as well as numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and grandchildren.
Norman was an adventurous person as a youth, recounting tales of riding the metro train with his brother as he grew up in central Dallas. That was the age of free-range children and one could envision him a rascal of the neighborhood. Norman loved all small animals, including pet squirrels and almost any bird that roamed the Earth. He graduated North Dallas High School in 1952, and promptly joined the Marine Corps and later the Air Force, performing the meticulous and vital task of packing parachutes, among other duties, and earning honorable discharges from both. He also worked with the Internal Revenue Service for over 30 years in Dallas, while residing in Garland and later Post Oak, Texas, before retiring with Betty in Trophy Club, Texas in 2012.
Norman was a devout Christian and he gave generously to Tabernacle Baptist Church in Roanoke. His faith ensures him his heavenly comfort. Norman kept the following passage on the door of his home:
“As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” Joshua 24:15
