Nona C. Overfield

Nona C Overfield 90, of Southlake, TX and formerly of Leavenworth, died Monday, November 4, 2024 at Silverado Memory Care after a short illness.

Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, November 14, 2024 at Belden Larkin Funeral Home in Leavenworth KS with Pastor Cape Rust officiating. The family will receive friends and relatives from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. The burial will be at Mount Muncie Cemetery. 

 Nona was born December 20, 1933 at Magic City, Texas before moving to Leavenworth at an early age and then to the Kansas City area. She lived in Plano, TX and Southlake TX since the 1970s. Nona was a homemaker and mother to 6 wonderful children. She was a talented basket weaver having woven hundreds of Indian Baskets and enjoyed working in her many gardens. She loved decorating her home with antiques, especially collecting old marbles and took many buying trips over the years. Nona spent many years discussing genealogy research with her sister, Phyllis Vance. 

 She married Max I. Overfield, Sr. on October 14th, 1949 in Leavenworth. They were married for 39 years. He preceded her in death on December 31, 1988.

 Survivors include sons: Max I. Overfield, Jr. (Tresa) of Blue Springs, MO, Dr. A. Scott Overfield (ret) of Fairfield, CA. and Jeffrey Overfield (Delora) of Olathe, KS.; daughters Terri Lea Rockhill of Alamo, TX, Tomi Jo Pope (Michael) of Hurst, TX; sisters Phyllis Vance (Fred) of Topeka, KS, Peggy Hitchcock of Leavenworth, KS; 14 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.

 In addition to her husband, Max, she was preceded in death by her parents Arlie “Tex” Emler and Ardith Phillips Emler, her son Michael P Overfield, granddaughter Casey Rockhill, brothers Odie Emler, Claude Emler and Louie C. Emler; sisters Lois Robertson and Wanda Davis.

 Pallbearers are Max Overfield, Scott Overfield, Jeff Overfield, Fred Vance, Michael Pope, Jake Overfield, Jarod Overfield and Josh Overfield.
