Nicholas Richard Balazik Jr.

Retired Major (USAF) Nicholas R. Balazik, Jr., 95, of Fort Worth, Texas, entered into eternal rest on July 12, 2026 in his home.

He was born on January 21, 1931 in Ford City, Pennsylvania and was the son of the late Mikulos Michael and Mary Minarcin Balazik. Nicholas had an outstanding military career serving our beloved country and was proud to be an American and a Veteran of the United States Armed Forces. He entered active duty in the Air Force in 1954.

He was stationed in Maine, Oklahoma, California at the Army Language School at Presidio of Monterey to learn Czech language; Germany, Nebraska, Vietnam, Pentagon with Defense Intelligence Agency, Naples, Italy at the Headquarters Allied Air Forces Southern Europe and finally in Texas. As a retired officer, he worked for E-Systems in Garland for 19 years and retired.

Outside his outstanding military career, he was a member of St. Rita's Roman Catholic Church and was a school board member.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his older sisters, Eleanor Slovensky of Ford City and Martha Papciak of Kittanning, Pennsylvania, brother Joseph Balazik of Pennsylvania, and daughter Kamein Balazik of Fort Worth, Texas.

Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church on July 29, 2026 at 10:30 am. Burial will follow with full military honors at Dallas/Fort Worth National Cemetery.
