Nancy Attaway

Nancy Sue Beckett Attaway, passed away peacefully on July 2, 2026, at the age of 81, in Fort Worth, Texas. Born on June 18, 1945, in Corpus Christi, Texas, Nan's life was characterized by her cheerful, friendly, and fun-loving personality that brought joy to everyone around her and made them feel welcome and loved.

Nan spent her early years in Fort Worth where she attended Poly Elementary and William James Middle School. Prior to her graduation from L. D. Bell High School, the Beckett family moved to Hurst just across the street from the Attaway's, who would become her future in-laws when she and Jimmie began their marriage of 50 years in 1970. She was a loving and devoted wife to Jimmie, mother to Robert and Shaun, and Gege to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

During her working years, Nan’s jobs included that of a military wife, cafeteria worker, and bank teller at Fort Worth Community Credit Union. She and Jimmie were faithful Christians who read the Bible, prayed powerful prayers, and followed God’s calling on their lives, working at a boys’ home in New York and Pleasant Hills Children’s Home in Fairfield, Texas, as well as serving as missionaries in Guam and South Africa. When they returned to Fort Worth, they began attending Movement City (Christ) Church, where they enjoyed participating in Connection Group and Young at Heart activities and served as Greeters. It was through their love for God and others that they touched and positively impacted the lives of countless numbers of people and left a legacy for those of us remaining to continue.

She is survived by her sons Robert (Adelaida) Attaway and Shaun (Lisa) Attaway; grandchildren Cleopatra (Francisco) Ledesma, Isabel (Rey) Ferrusquia, Briana Adams, Gabriel Rubio, Dakota Attaway, Isaiah Adams, Christina Attaway, and Elizabeth Attaway; and great grandchildren Emmanuel Ledesma, Isabella Ferrusquia, Gabriela Ferrusquia, Daniella Ferrusquia, Leonidas Attaway, Caspian Attaway, and Rey Ferrusquia; and sister Betty Ricketts.

Nan was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmie Attaway; son, Rodney Paul; parents, J. W. and Rachel Beckett; sister, Barbara Chatman; and brothers, Charlie and David Beckett.

Those wishing to pay their respects are invited to join us on Wednesday, July 15, 2026 at Movement City Church, 5301 Altamesa Blvd., Fort Worth, Texas 76123. Viewing begins at 9:00 a.m., followed by a Celebration of Life at 10:00 a.m. A light lunch will be served after the service in the foyer to give family and friends the opportunity to continue Nan’s love for fellowship and legacy of loving God and people. Interment will take place at 1:00 p.m. at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, Texas 75211. The service will be recorded by the family for anyone wishing to request the video. Our family would love for attendees to reflect Nan’s flair for color (her favorite was yellow and of course, she loved her trademark red hair) as well as her cheerful, sunny personality in their attire.
