Morris Wayne Shaffer

September 13, 1939 — August 28, 2025

Hurst, Texas

Morris Wayne Shaffer, of Hurst, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, August 28, 2025 in Richland Hills, TX. He will always be remembered as an amazing father, grandfather and friend to all that loved him. He was born on September 13, 1939, in Hico, Texas to Wayne Shaffer and Louise Smith. Morris married young to the love of his life, Diane Shaffer. He loved cars and was fortunate to find employment with General Motors, where he ultimately retired from in 1998. In his younger days he enjoyed running with his daughter, Angie Smith and even back then could be found in his favorite recliner. Once Angie married, Morris enjoyed golfing with his son-in-law, Mark Smith and car shows not only with Mark, but also with his son Brad and his grandson, Cameron. He also enjoyed collecting pocket watches and beer steins. In the later years Morris enjoyed his little Debbie snack cakes and was spoiled by his wife, Diane’s home cooking. Morris was lucky to have a life full of love and family. Morris is survived by his wife, Diane Shaffer of Hurst, TX, his daughter and son-in law, Mark and Angie Smith of Hurst, TX, his grandchildren, Amanda Scruggs and her husband Tommy of Bedford, TX, Amber Gibson and her husband Bryce of Fort Worth, TX and Cameron Shaffer of Bedford, TX, his great-grandchildren, Nathan and Silas Gibson, as well as, his brother and sister in law, David and Lee Young, niece, Julie Weidenbach, nephew David Young and great niece Sarah Weidenbach. His great-grandson Nathan has the middle name Morris after his great-grandfather, showing what a special relationship he had with his granddaughter, Amber.

He was preceded in death by his parents Wayne Shaffer and Louise Smith, his son, Bradley Wayne Shaffer, his mother and father-in-law, Alma and David Young.
