OBITUARY: Morris Glen Gates | June 26, 1956 - July 14, 2026
Morris Glen Gates was born on June 26, 1956, in Lubbock, Texas. At age 16, his family moved to Arlington, where he met his high school sweetheart and the love of his life, Leigh Anne, beginning a beautiful 51-year marriage. Morris was a hardworking man of deep integrity who learned dedication from his father. Known for his ability to fix just about anything, his constant readiness to help others, and his loyal friendship, he was someone everyone could always count on.
Guided by a profound Christian faith and a lineage of Methodist preachers, Morris devoted himself to studying scripture. He eagerly participated in Bible studies and teaching lessons in his Sunday school class. In his youth, Morris spent cherished summers on his grandparents' farm in Idalou, Texas, and at the family cabin near Creede, Colorado. It was there that he fell in love with the mountains he affectionately called "God's country." Throughout his life, he loved sharing and teaching those passions-including fly fishing, hunting, archery, hiking, and snow skiing-with family and friends, creating memories that will last a lifetime.
Above all, Morris was a family man. Together with Leigh Anne, he built a life centered on faith and love. They raised their three children in Mansfield and later built a forever home in Burleson, which served as a gathering place for family and friends for the past 22 years.
Morris leaves behind his beloved wife, Leigh Anne; his children Tony, Traci, and Tammy; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren, all of whom were deeply blessed by his wisdom, steady presence, and a legacy of love.
