Modene Shields

Modene Shields, 91, of Hurst, passed away surrounded by her loving family, Saturday, November 15, 2025, at her residence. She was born to the late James Coplen and Billie Cook Coplen on August 26, 1934, in Cotter, Arkansas.

Modene was an avid reader and enjoyed puzzle books and traveling. The family had a long running joke of calling her their favorite mother / favorite wife. Modene loved spending time with her family. She will be missed by all her knew her and loved her.

She is survived by her loving husband of 68 years, Howard Shields; her son, Gregg; her daughter, Diana; her sisters, Jimmie Coplen Repine, Jean Coplen Conner, and Cindy Baltes; she is also survived by her two brothers, Ronnie Coplen, and Michael Dean Coplen.

She was preceded in death by her sisters, Dorothy “Dottie” Hendrick, and Caren McKay; also, by her brothers, Tom Minor, and Gary Tucker.

There will be a visitation for family and friends, Wednesday, December 10, 2025, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Lucas Funeral Home, Hurst, Texas.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 11, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at the Lucas Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Eric Crawford officiating. Interment will immediately follow at 1:00 p.m. at the Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Pkwy, Dallas, Texas.
