Mildred “Sharon” Belcher Campion, 84, of Keller, Texas, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, May 15, 2026.
Sharon was born on March 15, 1942, on a tobacco farm in Penhook, Franklin County, Virginia, to Emmett Russel Belcher and Mildred Leone Williams Belcher. She was the youngest and last surviving of seven children, a role that shaped her deep appreciation for family.
From an early age, Sharon demonstrated exceptional intelligence and determination. As a young child, she skipped the first grade and later graduated from Franklin County High School in 1959. After graduation, she moved to Washington, D.C., where she served as the youngest secretary in the pool for the FBI Director. It was during this time that she met her future husband, William “Bill” Campion, beginning a lifelong partnership that would span more than 64 years.
Sharon continued her academic journey, earning her Associate of Science degree from Schreiner, followed by both her Bachelor of Science and Master of Business Administration degrees from East Texas State University (now Texas A&M University–Commerce). Her commitment to education reflected her strong work ethic and lifelong pursuit of knowledge.
Her professional career spanned many years as an adjunct and associate professor at numerous colleges and community colleges. She truly loved teaching and was passionate about helping others succeed, especially through practical skills such as shorthand, typing, Word, and other business tools that prepared her students to confidently enter the workforce. Her dedication as an educator left a lasting impact on countless students.
Sharon lived a life defined by hard work, resilience, faith, and devotion to those around her.
She found great joy in life’s simple pleasures. Sharon loved embroidery and counted cross stitch, hobbies that reflected her patience and creativity. She was also an avid fan of college basketball, especially Duke, and took immense pride in cheering on her children and later her grandchildren in their sporting endeavors. One of her greatest joys was returning to her home state of Virginia, where she cherished time spent visiting family and lifelong friends in the community where she grew up.
Above all, Sharon was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend to many. Her family was her greatest joy.
Sharon is preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, William “Bill” Campion; her parents; her siblings Dorothy, Patsy, Buddy, Phyllis, Linda and Wayne; her son-in-law, Monte Green, and her brothers-in-law Harvey Mayer, Robert Whitlow, and Richard Oliver.
She is survived by her four daughters, Carolyn Scott and husband, Gary, Jackie Baccarini and husband, Tony, Laura Green, and Mary Anne Collins and husband, Chuck. She is also survived by grandchildren: Corey Scott, Christopher Scott, Brayden Baccarini, Bryce Baccarini, Blair Baccarini Jeppesen, Seth Green, Will Green, Ryan Green, Sarah Green, Sidney Green, Grayson Collins and Cash Collins; seventeen great-grandchildren, sisters-in law Judy Campion and Gwen Mayer, brothers-in law Richard Campion and Douglas Law, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family. The family would also like to acknowledge and thank her loving caregiver, Rosalinda Rios.

She will be deeply missed and forever loved
