Miguel Garcia of Lewisville, Texas passed away from natural causes at home on May 24th, 2025. His beloved pup Fox was by his side. He was born in Oaxaca, Mexico on September 19, 1990. He came to the US when he was just 4 years old. He graduated with Honors from Banning High school Magnet Program in Wilmington, Ca in 2009. He attended the University of California, Santa Barbara majoring in Mechanical Engineering. He returned to the South Bay to be closer to his family and made many lifelong friends at Hof’s Hut in Torrance and Black Bear Diner in Signal Hill. July 1st 2019 was Miguel's first day in the maintenance hangar at LAX for American Airlines in the Stores department. He took off from there.
Miguel’s Mother Rosa Maria and his Uncle Cesar Garcia Acevedo preceded him in death. He is survived by his brother Eduardo and father Walfred Marroquin and his loving partner Krystine and her daughter, Deanna. He will be missed dearly by his aunts, uncles and cousins in California and Mexico. He was blessed to have 3 godchildren and words cannot express how much they and their parents will miss him, Ruby, and her mother Rose Cisneros. Joy and Jose Gilberto and their parents, Gilberto, and Sandra Valenzuela and his Texas-made family especially, Miranda Key. We know that his 3 dogs, Baycie, Mocha, and Ivy all greeted him when he arrived.
When you think of Miguel, everyone will say what a nice guy! He was always so helpful. He looked out for people even when you didn’t know he was. He could fix anything. He loved having the answer for you.
If you asked him what he was most proud of, he would say his brother graduating high school and continuing his education at El Camino College. He was immensely proud to work for American Airlines. The friends and fAAmily he made at the IOC and LAX gave him many great times, not just shifts at work. July 1st would have been his sixth anniversary. From starting in the Stores department at LAX, becoming a shift supervisor and almost 3 years ago answering the call that many team members do, come to DFW. He did and was a Supervisor in the AOG department at the IOC, American Airline’s headquarters. He never said no to helping a colleague whether it was here in DFW or LAX and he did get those calls and emails.
Prior to moving to Texas, you could find Miguel hiking the trails in Palos Verdes and Malibu. He was a frequent visitor to Camp Wishon in Sequoia National Park bringing his dogs and many of us along to see that beauty. He made several trips to Yellowstone, never leaving his dogs at home ensuring they could enjoy the natural beauty of the outdoors. He had just returned from a camping trip in Colorado and New Mexico, ensuring Fox his puppy could see the mountains. He also loved the Hawaiian Islands, visiting all but Kona. His favorite was Maui. That was his island. He visited Maui too many times to count in the past nine years. He camped on the beach in Olowalu, stayed in Kahana at an ocean front condo even in a cabin at the black sand beach in Hana. His favorite spot to see the ocean and have breakfast (his favorite meal) was at the Planation House at Kapalua. They even called him Mr. Kapalua as he visited so much.
Miguel’s other passion besides travelling was riding motorcycles. He purchased his third bike, a red Ducati 959 Panagale in 2020 during covid. Getting out and riding along the coast was a welcome respite from the world being closed off for so long. He also loved riding Harley Davidsons’ and would frequently rent them while in Hawaii.
Miguel loved good food, 5 stars or don’t bother and a smooth whiskey. On his travels he would find the right place that would make the best IG post and taste great. He lived a lot in his 34 years with us. He loved and lived life to the fullest and he would want all of you to do the same. Remember, as we try to accept that he is no longer physically with us, he lives on in all of us and will be with us in spirit always.
Be kind like he was. Go out of your way for people, like he did. Ensure we don’t limit ourselves, work for what you want like he did.
