Obituary

In Loving Memory of Martha Casas

April 28, 1944 – September 1, 2026

Martha Casas, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away on September 1, 2026, at the age of 82. Born on April 28, 1944 in Laredo, Texas (raised proudly in the Indiana Harbor), Martha dedicated her life to caring for her family and creating a loving home filled with warmth, laughter, and cherished traditions.

A devoted homemaker, Martha's greatest joy was her family. She poured her heart into raising her children, supporting her loved ones, and celebrating every milestone, big and small. Her kindness, strength, and unwavering love left a lasting impression on everyone who knew her.

Martha's greatest love story was the life she built with her husband, Macedonio Casas. Together, they shared more than 60 years of marriage, raising a family, creating lasting memories, and supporting one another through life's joys and challenges. Their enduring love and commitment serve as an inspiration to generations of their family.

Martha was preceded in death by her parents, Vincent and Maria Alvarez; brother, Joseph Arias; and sister, Marysue Flores.

She is survived by her loving husband, Macedonio Casas Sr.; her brother, Daniel Alvarez; her children and adopted family, Macedonio (Dawn) Casas Jr., Christina (Daniel) Ruiz, AnnaMaria (Daniel) Sanchez, Paul (Christina) Cruz, and Mary (late Robert) Longoria.

She was a proud grandmother to Alexis "Chicky" Ruiz, Macedonio (Melissa) Casas III, Victoria (Josh) Blackmon, Cecilia ( Chad) Collingsworth, Apollo Ruiz, Alyssa Guillen (partner Derick Vu), Sierra (Jacob) Peugh, David (Clarisa) Guillen Jr., Lauren (Dakota) Harris, Ailina Casas (fiance Kyle Poulin) and Leilah (Steven) Singh.

She was also blessed with her beloved great-grandchildren: Luis Cervantes Jr., Gabriel Ruiz, Gionni Cervantes, Aya Casas, Aria Collingsworth, Oaklynn Singh, Veronica Casas, Mia Vu, Elena Guillen, and Statler Singh.

Martha will be remembered for her loving spirit, her dedication to her family, and the countless memories she created with those she loved. Whether she was caring for her children and grandchildren, gathering family together, or offering words of wisdom, she made everyone around her feel loved and protected.

Those who knew Martha will never forget her favorite sayings. One was, "Watch out for the crazies out there," a phrase she shared often, reflecting both her caring nature and her desire to always look out for the people she loved. It brought laughter, comfort, and a reminder that no matter where her family was going, she was always thinking of their well-being.

Martha's greatest accomplishment was not measured in titles or recognition, but in the family she nurtured, the love she shared, and the generations who will carry her memory forward. Her legacy lives on through each of them, and she will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all whose lives she touched.

As we say goodbye to Martha, we take comfort in remembering another phrase she loved to say: "See you later, alligator." Though our hearts ache in her absence, we know her love, laughter, and spirit will remain with us always. Until we meet again, Martha, see you later, alligator.

*The Casas family sincerely appreciates the prayers, love, and support extended to them during this difficult time.

"Her love was the foundation of her family, and her memory will remain in their hearts forever."*
